10 easy-eat snacks for busy working professionals

It's the middle of the workday, the day is action-packed, you look at the clock and realize that it's past lunchtime, too early for tea and your stomach is rumbling. Sound familiar? If you are like me and you become hyper-focused on your work, you may tend to miss meal times or you may be way too busy to have a sit-down meal. Forks and spoons are luxuries for working professionals, am I right? If you can relate, here are a few mess-free snacks you can have at your desk without slowing down your work too much.

Sandwiches:

Sandwiches are quick and easy to make, totally work desk-friendly, and can be made with a variety of options so that it never gets boring.

Quick tip though:

Go light on the mayonnaise, sandwich spread, or whatever spread you are using to prevent your sandwich from becoming a soggy mess. If you have time, toasting your bread will give it the additional firmness that makes it great finger food.

Hummus and veggies:

Homemade or even store-bought hummus is packed with protein making it a great snack that will keep you full for longer. Pair it with some carrots, celery, or your favorite veggies and enjoy. Here is my favorite hummus recipe.

Cutlets:

Tuna, chicken, potato, egg, or even rice all make great cutlets. This requires a little bit of prep a day before; however, it is packed with nutrients and makes such a wholesome snack. Be sure to shallow fry these cutlets to prevent oily hands and coat them in egg and bread crumbs well to avoid crumbs. The great thing with cutlets is that you can pack them with vegetables or meat or grains to give them some variety and boost their nutritional value. Here is one of my favorites: fish cutlets!

Salad:

What I love about salad is that it doesn't even need heating, it can be different every day and be exciting as many times as you eat it. Be sure to carry the dressings separately to ensure that your veggies are crisp and fresh.

Apple and peanut butter:

Apple and peanut butter actually make a very healthy snack and you will be surprised by how long it keeps you full with minimum prep, this is such an easy go-to option that it's bound to climb to the top of your favorites list. If you are looking for some variety, try almond butter or stewed apples with a bit of cinnamon. You can even add some biscuit base crumble, oat crumble, or custard if you would like to do away with peanut butter.

Granola:

This is another healthy but diverse snack. You can have this with or without greek yogurt, change up the fruit options, or throw in some dates, raisins, or dried cranberries and it doesn't even need heating up.

Savory Muffins:

Okay, granted. This one takes a bit of prep but is there anything more satisfying than the smell of freshly baked muffins? Savory Muffins can be really healthy, filling, and stored for at least a couple of days.

Dark Chocolate:

Dark chocolate is proven to have nutritional benefits and you can also enjoy it by having chocolate-covered dates, raisins, nuts, or even strawberries. This will also give you a boost of energy.

Smoothies:

A drinkable snack, need I say more?

Kebabs:

The great thing about Kebabs is that they can be bite-sized, extremely healthy, and absolutely delicious. They store well and only taste better the next day.
