8 Mood-boosting activities for when you just can’t deal

For the days you just aint feeling it

Unpopular opinion: mood boosters are totally necessary on a daily basis.

Even if I really wanted to, I could never be cheery all the time. Life gets in the way, stress gets in the way, work gets in the way, boys get in the way . . . the list could go on.

But sometimes you just need a little pick-me-up when you’re feeling down. Maybe you’re PMS-ing and every little thing is setting you off. Maybe you just want to feel better for 20 minutes today because your toddler is driving you crazy. Or maybe you just want to have more stabilized mood patterns.

We’ve got you covered. Here are 8 tried and tested mood-boosting activities to make you feel all better:

1. Aerobics / Dance classes

Rather than going for a run or doing some high-intensity cardio, why not switch it up and do some dance classes or aerobics? Even if you’ve got two left feet like me, you can still have a good time!

2. Jacuzzi time

Relax with a glass of wine (or juice) in a jacuzzi with a good book, or just be in the moment and enjoy a bit of downtime.

3. Sauna time

Get some great skin care while you’re enjoying this mood booster.

4. DIY home decor

Ladies, we know you’ve got a dozen pinterest boards with millions of DIY home decor ideas that you’ve never actually done because you never had the time. Now is as good a time as any to get creative and hands on … and also make your house more Pinteresty, because who wouldn't want that?

5. Break a sweat

Do a high intensity work-out to burn off some of that anxiety and stress that's been building over the week.

6. Get a massage

Indulge yourself in a spa day or a long massage. Take the time to pamper yourself.

7. Self-love podcasts

Spotify has some great podcasts on wellness and self love to help you feel like your best self. Take some time out in the day to listen to an affirmative podcast, because feeding yourself with the right encouragement will help improve your mental wellbeing.

8. Gratitude journals

Go out and buy yourself a gratitude journal where you can write about what your thankful for, on a daily basis. It will go a long way on those days when you feel like nothing is going right. You may find that there's loads to feel good about, and even more things to be thankful for.
