A Christmas Prince: Bringing in the Christmas feels..

A his & hers review

*SPOILER ALERT: THIS ARTICLE DOES NOT HAVE DIRECT SPOILERS, HOWEVER, OVERALL THEMES ARE DISCUSSED.

With the Christmas spirit (supposedly) in the air, I suggested to my husband that we try and get into the Christmas mood with a Christmas movie for our weekly date night. To say this year has been hard is an understatement. As a family, we've battled through hardship after hardship, fought depression, deep pain and scrambled to find that sense of joy - so it's no wonder we weren't really feeling the Christmas spirit

Here is our his and hers review of the movie ‘A Christmas Prince’

His

In short, the movie was light, romantic, Christmassy, unpredictable and the suspense kept us watching.

It showed us how a man really needs a simple and sensible woman to listen to and understand him. That is what unlocks a man’s hidden potential. Everything else is just cinematic, but in essence, her effort to truly understand him is what helped the man shine.

The movie leaves us with knowledge of the fact that the truth will always prevail and pave the way to success in relationships. Without that, dishonesty and inauthenticity would just lead to a devastating end.

Although these values shine through, A Christmas Prince is wonderfully light, makes you laugh and really brings out the Christmas spirit. I'll definitely be watching the sequels!

Hers

Grab your pizza because this movie is so cheesy that it's terrible and wonderful. It's basically the movie version of comfort food!

If you're like me; really struggling to feel joy through this festive time, this movie is pretty great. It's light enough that you don't need to use too much of your brain to know what's happening, cliche enough to make you curl up comfortably under your blanket and humorous enough to put a smile on your face.

Seriously though, do leave your brains behind when you watch this movie because there's so much that is just too unrealistic (a Christmas tree in every scene for starters). If you try to apply reason and logic to this movie, your brains may just hurt!

Speaking of hurt, how painfully bad is Amber as a reporter? She kind of reminds me of Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. A small-town reporter who thinks she's a big fish but really hasn't got a clue about anything. Of course, she's got to be this big success because she is the protagonist, but why does she have to be so terrible? I mean, have you seen her notes?

Terrible or not, A Christmas Prince was a wonderful way to get us into the Christmas spirit. We had Christmas songs playing all day and even looked up a few Christmas recipes and activities to do with our baby. Who would have thought a cheesy Netflix movie could do that?
