Extroverts share their most embarrassing social moments

Introverts are known for their socially awkward moments, but this time we wanted to take a look at the other side. Surely, extroverts have their moments too?

We decided to ask a few of our extroverted friends about their most embarrassing social moments, here’s what they said..

“I am usually really bad at remembering birthdays so I marked a close friend’s birthday on my calendar. I added all our common friends to a WhatsApp group and asked if we could plan a surprise party at her place. Initially, some of them said it was way too early to start planning and weren’t all that enthusiastic. But then I had a separate chat with another friend, who immediately realised that I had marked the wrong date on my calendar (December 11 instead of the actual January 11, my bad.) She pioneered the whole planning and even added more people to the group. The day finally came and I was super excited. I reached the place and found no one. An hour later, everyone showed up and it turns out they threw a clown-themed party for me with lots of alcohol and food. I remember being super embarrassed (and also extremely hungover the next day!) Surely I wouldn’t mess up anyone’s birthday after this.”

“I was at a fancy steakhouse with my family and friends to celebrate a special occasion. We decided to get steak and ribs and everyone was patiently waiting for their food. As soon as it arrived, we dug in and it was a mess. I was trying to be nice to the meat, but I struggled to cut through most of it. In a seemingly slow-motion mishap, my piece of meat launched off the plate, sailed through the air, and landed directly on the back of a gentleman dining at the table behind us, all while my peers looked in utter horror. Funnily enough, no one knew what to do except avoid eye contact with the man, who hadn’t even realised that there was a piece of meat on his shirt. A few minutes later, he finally realised and simply ate it without a second thought. The crisis was averted but my family reminds me of this hilarious tale to date.”

“It was a Friday night, and my friends and I were ready to let loose at a college party. The dance floor was packed and we were having the time of our lives. I stepped out to get some fresh air for a while and joined back into a lively circle of people who were dancing and having a blast. It was really dark and the atmosphere was buzzing. I remember hugging them and dancing away. Little did I know that I was surrounded by a complete group of strangers. The lights came back on and all of us stared at each other in the most puzzled way. I apologized and instantly went back to my friend group, really embarrassed. The next day however, one of the guys I hugged confessed he had a crush on me, to which I had to politely decline.”

“I once found myself at an important business conference where I was scheduled to give a presentation in front of hundreds of industry professionals. As I approached the podium, my shoe got caught in the carpet, and I took a spectacular tumble. I lay there for a moment, feeling embarrassed, but then I got up and said, “Stumbling Blocks to Building Solutions,” which was the tagline of the brand we were unveiling. The audience found it amusing and it instantly lightened the mood. I went on to give my presentation flawlessly, and people remembered it as a memorable conference.”
