Indoor activities for the perfect week-night

Updated: Nov 11, 2021

For many of us working individuals who get stuck in the routine of laboring from Sunday to Thursday, it can be difficult to schedule in some fun activities to unwind. Leisure is often reserved for the weekends where you have more time and freedom to have fun. But sometimes during the week, when you may be suffering from a classic case of weekday blues or workday stress, is exactly when you need to plan out some fun time.

Even if you’re on lockdown or you’re simply an introvert looking to kick back - you can still have fun at home. You don’t necessarily need to go out and party to have fun. You can party indoors - both literally and figuratively.

Here’s our list to help you have a light and fun evening:

1. GAMES NIGHT

Board game sales have sky-rocketed during the pandemic as people look to have fun while indoors. Invest some time in a family or friends board game night.

Some board game classics we recommend are: Pandemic - Monopoly - Cluedo - Love Letters - Settlers of Catan - Risk - Bang the Dice … and the list goes on. Alternatively, if board games aren’t your thing, you could play some cards, charades, pictionary etc.

If you’re a pro gamer, you can host an XBox or Playstation night where you can host a mini game competition like Fifa or Call of Duty.

2. WINE/SNACKS AND MOVIE NIGHT

A few months ago, some friends invited me to their place where we had a couple glasses of wine and some healthy but tasty snacks on a charcuterie board.

This is how charcuterie boards look:

They are basically bamboo shoot boards where you can put some snacks on like crackers, cheese, cold meats, pistachios, grapes etc. and when you compliment this with chilled wine it will add to a perfect night when you sit down and watch a movie classic.

3. INDOOR PICNICS

Being an introverted and completely un-outdoorsy person myself, I personally have always wanted to try doing an indoor picnic. If you decorate picnic night really well, it could feel as good as the real thing.

This could also be a particularly romantic way to spend your week-night with your partner, or you could incorporate a family indoor picnic time which will be exciting for young kids. This is also a great idea to incorporate family time if you’re on a lockdown and need some creative ideas to spend quality time together.

4. FILM A COOKING SHOW

Wouldn’t it be absolutely cool to pretend you’re featured on your own cooking show? You could have a cook-off with your family members, and have one or two people be the judges. It could be particularly exhilarating, especially if one of the judges pretends to be Gordon Ramsay!

5. FRIENDLY WARS

When was the last time you had a pillow fight/water fight or even an ice cube fight? If I had to guess, you were probably very young the last time you did something like this.

Doing something fun, easy and messy like friendly wars will take you back to your childhood, when you didn’t have jobs, responsibilities and houses to run and you could afford to just play around and be goofy.

6. HAVE A FAMILY PHOTO SHOOT

Buy some cute and funky props and host a family photo shoot, by pretending to be an expert photographer.

Photo shoot ideas: Vintage - Funky - Scary - Childish/Disney Themed - Black and White.

7. REDECORATING/PAINTING

For those women out there who are creative and love to keep their home looking beautiful, it can be fun to spend your night redecorating your room, maybe investing in some fairy lights, light decor or simply rearranging your room to look more pretty. Alternatively, you can also paint a single wall, as that is quite a stress-relieving activity to do once you come home from a long day at work.

8. LEARN CALLIGRAPHY

It’s always a good idea to learn a new technique or skill. Try learning some calligraphy and then writing out a poem or your own name. Who knows? You might decide to turn the calligraphy into a decoration piece for your bedroom or office.

9. NAIL ART

Nail art is another easy and fun activity that is perfect for those who don’t want to throw a party. You can simply spend some time pampering your nails and buy a nail art kit - if you’re a beginner with nail art, you could try doing a french manicure or some basic designs.

10. UPCYCLING PROJECTS

Before you throw away the things you know you’ve been hoarding for years, try upcycling them instead. It’s a great way to turn everyday household items into conversation pieces.

So here are 10 unique indoor activities you can try, to keep yourself entertained on what would otherwise be a usual evening. Whether you’re an introvert wanting to paint her nails or have a mini spa night, or an extrovert wanting to throw an indoor party - this blog post has you covered on everything you can possibly do for entertainment during the week.
