Quiet but talkative - Confessions of introverts across the world

Introverts are an interesting type of people. They’re quiet to some and loud to others. They’re timid in some settings, and talkative in others. They’re selective, they often appear unfriendly and snobbish but have hearts of gold when you get to know them (Most of the time) you can look like the most extroverted person with people you’re comfortable with and yet, identify as an introvert.

I myself identify as socially awkward, but only in settings where I’m uncomfortable. And I have had my fair share of moments in public I wish I could forget. So, as a tribute to all my wallflowers, introverts and people struggling to have positive social interactions we asked introverts around the world what their worst social situations were. This is what they said, myself included…

  • “I was on a Tinder date, and it was going okay. But in the middle of our date, he told me what his job was, and I suddenly realised he and I were not compatible, and my face showed it. He noticed me suddenly grow quiet and kept asking me if I was okay, I then showed him to the door and never called him again.” Suzie Hart, Editor-in-Chief and Socially Awkward Queen

  • “I accidentally offered my Hindu colleagues mutton, and one guy ate it and immediately started to feel sick. In trying to be friendly, I ended up getting my co-worker sick. Its a good thing I was leaving the company in a few days..” Augustine Kudalkar, Customer Sales Advisor, and Socially Oblivious Oddity.

“Once back in primary school, we had an assembly of the entire school. Nearing the end of the assembly, we were asked to close our eyes for a prayer. I moved to the empty seat next to me and it was empty for a reason: it broke the moment I sat on it. This girl I had a crush on locked eyes with me and the entire school, of close to about 1000 kids, burst into laughter. I cried and had my first and worst panic attack ever.” Gerald Laryea, Accountant and Lovable Misfit.
