You - the Show we Love to Hate

*SPOILERS AHEAD* This summer, the psycho stalker serial killer Anti Hero we all know and hate returns. Except this time he takes his murderous spree to the elite part of the UK. Over the course of 10 episodes, Jonathan Moore, aka. Joe Goldberg who has killed his wife, and abandoned his infant son now vows to stop his obsessive ways..but we all know, that can never really last. This season, the seemingly unassuming professor masquerading as a calculated psychotic killer takes us on a journey into the lives of the elite, privileged, rich and famous..and slowly they all drop dead. With Jonathan pretending to be the hero Sherlock Holmes who tries to identify the killer, spoiler alert, he is the killer. I don’t know what’s the worst part of this season: the fact that Jonathan is so psycho that he kills several people and can’t remember it, the fact that he imagines he’s being stalked, followed and taunted by the ‘Eat the Rich killer’ or the fact that the character consistency on this season is so poor. For example, Kate - who is Jonathan’s newest love interest is initially portrayed as being cold, distrusting, rude, but intelligent, however as the season progresses and she and Jonathan develop a connection she becomes more and more blind and ignorant to his red flags. Even when he tells her he’s murdered people, she simply shrugs it off as ‘We all have a past’ like girl, come on, having ‘a past’ is like having an ex wife, not leaving a trail of dead bodies. But time and again, she looks the other way, doesn’t ask questions and transforms out of being cold and distrusting to a lovestruck, doey-eyed teenager. Then, there’s the fact that Jonathan spent about 4 episodes of this entire season talking to someone who was a figment of his imagination. I mean the writers of the show explain it as him having some sort of split personality disorder due to all the brain damage he has experienced over the past few years, but still. Several episodes - and all of what he was experiencing, and what we, the viewers were watching - all of it was his imagination and the real villain was himself. That was a bit far fetched, for me. Finally, the worst part of this season was when I thought the women would finally win. I thought a smart, curious Indian student would be the one to finally take down Joe Goldberg / Jonathan Moore. And she was so smart and so close to beating him - that I felt really really bad when she became yet another one of his victims of a brilliant frame-job. Jonathan Moore should have been defeated by women, but I guess there is still one final season for all his victims to finally take him down once in for all. Marianne got away from him, and all I can say is I hope she returns to take her revenge and put this creepy guy away once and for all. And I sure hope that Nadia returns to make India proud and defeat the serial killer white man. A caution to the wise: don’t waste your energy on this show. It’s incredibly frustrating, at times confusing, unnecessarily sexual and gory in nature and especially if you’re eating: you don’t want to watch people getting chopped up by a meat grinder. Don’t do it, y’all. The highlight of the season: Taylor Swift’s hit ‘Antihero’ playing in the finale.
